Oppo Reno15 Series Tipped to Launch as More Compact Flat-Screen Android Smartphones
Leaked details suggest a sleek redesign and performance upgrades for Oppo’s upcoming mid-range lineup.

The Oppo Reno series has long been a favorite for users seeking stylish, camera-centric smartphones, and its next iteration might bring a surprising twist. According to recent leaks, the Oppo Reno15 series is expected to debut with a more compact form factor and flat-edge displays, marking a departure from the curved screens and bulkier designs of recent models.

A post on Weibo (via @DigitalChatStation) sparked speculation this week, revealing alleged renders and specifications for the Reno15 lineup. The leak suggests Oppo is prioritizing ergonomics this time, with both standard and Pro models rumored to feature 6.5-inch flat OLED screens—slightly smaller than the 6.7-inch panels on the Reno14 series. The shift to flat displays could also signal a move toward affordability, as curved screens typically drive up manufacturing costs.

Design-wise, the Reno15 series appears to take inspiration from Apple’s iPhone 15 lineup, with squared-off metal frames and matte glass backs. However, Oppo seems to be adding its own flair, including a revised camera module housing dual or triple lenses, depending on the variant. The standard Reno15 is tipped to include a 50MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, while the Pro model could upgrade to a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS and a 12MP telephoto shooter.

Under the hood, leaks point to MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300 chipset for the Reno15 Pro, offering 5G support and a notable performance boost over the Reno14’s Dimensity 7050. The base Reno15 may stick with the Dimensity 7050 but could see improvements in cooling and battery efficiency. Both models are expected to pack 5,000mAh batteries with 67W fast charging, a slight bump from previous generations.

The push for compact designs arrives as competitors like Samsung and Google experiment with smaller flagship devices. By trimming screen sizes and simplifying builds, Oppo might be targeting users fatigued by oversized phones. “The Reno series has always balanced style and functionality,” said tech analyst Li Wei in response to the leaks. “A smaller, lighter device could appeal to younger audiences and professionals seeking portability without sacrificing camera quality.”

Oppo has yet to confirm official launch details, but industry insiders speculate the Reno15 series could debut in China by late November 2024, followed by a global rollout in early 2025. Pricing is expected to remain competitive, with the standard model starting around 450andtheProvariantnearing600.

While leaks should always be taken with caution, the rumored changes hint at Oppo’s strategy to refine its mid-range offerings. If the Reno15 delivers on these claims, it could carve a niche in a market increasingly dominated by bulky, premium-priced devices. For now, fans can stay tuned to Oppo’s official channels—or keep an eye on Weibo—for updates.
