YouTube is testing a new feature for custom playlist covers

Video sharing platform YouTube is adding a new playlist cover customization feature to improve the experience for playlist creators and viewers, based on content discovered in the latest beta version of the app.

The icon in the YouTube app indicates that the platform allows users to upload custom thumbnails of the covers of playlists they create through their accounts.

The code contains several error messages such as "Try again", "Download failed" and "Your image size is smaller than minimum supported size". However, the platform has not yet announced when the feature will be available to the public in a future update.

When you create a playlist on YouTube, the platform automatically selects the thumbnail of the first video as the playlist cover. The best thing you can do is rearrange the videos so that the platform automatically selects the thumbnail for the first video again. There is currently no way to upload custom images.

This is different from individually published videos on YouTube because you can use an automatically generated thumbnail or upload a custom thumbnail from a computer or other mobile device at a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. In addition to different formats such as JPG, GIF or PNG.

YouTube recommends the 16:9 thumbnail format; It is commonly used in YouTube video previews and players.

The platform limits the number of video thumbnails a channel can upload per day. These restrictions depend on factors such as the channel's country, history, copyright infringement, and company policies.

Please note that custom thumbnails do not work with short videos on YouTube. You need to select an image from the short video as a thumbnail to display in search results, etc.
