Microsoft is improving smartphone integration with Windows 11

Microsoft is developing new features that will allow Android smartphone users to connect more deeply to their Windows 11 mobile devices through the Phone Link app.

In the latest Windows 11 beta, Microsoft is testing new changes aimed at integrating the functionality of the separate Phone Link app into the Windows 11 Start menu.

Microsoft said in its blog about the “Windows Insider” testing system: “We are gradually introducing a new feature that will enable Windows Insider subscribers to use mobile devices directly from the Start menu of their Windows 11 device.” Stay connected and easily access your mobile device's features from the Start menu.

Key new features include viewing your phone's battery status and the wireless networks connected to your phone directly from the Windows 11 Start menu, plus access to messages, calls, and photos from your phone, plus tracking recent activity on your phone, making sure you're safe. Don't miss any updates or important moments.

This feature is gradually rolling out to Windows Insiders and is only available to Android users running Windows 11 whose devices are connected to the Phone Link app. iPhone support for the application is expected later.

This feature can be managed by going to Settings, then clicking Personalize, then selecting the Start menu to show or hide phone data.

These features increase user productivity by providing easy access to important information and applications without the need to constantly switch between devices. Phone Link also lets you reply to messages, make calls, and more.
