TP-Link AX1500 WiFi 6 Dual-Band Wi-Fi System (Deco X15) | Replaces Routers and Extenders | Floor Space Up to 5,600 sq. ft. 2 Gigabit Ports Per Unit, Supports Ethernet Connection Version 2024
I waited a few months to review this so I could give my honest opinion.
First, let’s talk about the downsides:
1. These devices only have two Ethernet ports, so your options for wired internet devices are limited. If you want to provide multiple ports, you’ll need an Ethernet switch. I bought a switch from Home Depot for $15 and it works great with my Deco satellite to connect my TV and game console.
2. Don’t expect a good signal from the Deco’s Wi-Fi backbone. I connected my Deco because the WiFi signal between the devices wasn’t great. If they were within sight of each other, it’s probably fine, but for best results, they should be connected.
3. For the price of two Decos, I could probably buy a really good WiFi router and get the same range.
4. These need to be exposed to get the best WiFi signal. I have one in my closet and it’s only a third the speed.
What’s good now:
1. With my Deco, I’ve been able to cover about 2,300 square feet of my home plus my basement with a good WiFi signal. My WiFi download speeds are over 100Mbps, which is the same as my basic wired network, which is my ISP’s plan.
2. I had no problems installing it and the setup was very easy.
3. The signal wasn’t very strong originally, but there’s an option to improve the network in the Deco app. The signal is much better after the improvement.
I would probably recommend this setup if that’s what you’re looking for, but I’m not 100% convinced of the benefits of WiFi over a good, centrally located WiFi router. Would I buy it again? Probably not.
