While just over $1,400 is a great deal for a 40-series gaming laptop (which is exactly what I want), I’m a little hesitant because there was something I missed while browsing the store page that made me feel a little suspicious. Trust this seller when buying such a big ticket.
That, plus the lack of reviews at the time, added to my concerns.
But I pulled the trigger and I’m glad I did.
I’ve been testing it for about a week and I’m thrilled with the performance boost over my previous 3060 laptop.
Here are a few things you might be interested in.
First, the display has a 165Hz refresh rate, which wasn’t mentioned on the page above. This is more than I’m willing to accept, and I’d be happy with a refresh rate higher than 120Hz.
It has a second SSD slot for expansion, which I added to my old laptop’s 2TB. Installation only takes a couple of minutes and is very simple.
As advertised it comes with both the 4070 and 14650hx processors.
It works well and thankfully Lenovo lets you change the GPU/CPU directly in its own software so you can overclock if needed.
The fan noise is in the ideal range for a gaming laptop when the laptop is running at full power and remains cool.
I didn’t find any limitations or issues with the design.
The laptop comes in two boxes so it won't be a hassle if someone takes it out to the balcony, and the laptop case has a foam layer to hold it in place and protect it...
I'm not the type to complain when I think about buying something that doesn't meet the requirements... but I haven't had any negative issues with this laptop so far... anything goes, I'm no stranger to gaming laptops... and I generally know what's a plus or minus.
I suppose if you wanted an aluminum case like the old MSI Stealth, it might be a drawback... but this case costs me $600 more than me, and the hard plastic case is thick and sturdy. That's what's inside. It's important, and this laptop delivers what it promises.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a mid-to-high-end gaming laptop from the current range... it's a great choice!
