Microsoft has announced a number of new features for its Edge web browser, including the ability to translate and sync videos, as well as security improvements to address vulnerabilities and data breaches.
The company aims to provide instant translation and dubbing of video clips based on artificial intelligence mechanisms to help users overcome language barriers and enjoy content in languages other than their mother tongue.
This feature works in multiple locations and allows for voiceover or real-time text translation. Microsoft said that voice comments and instant text translation will be available on various video sharing platforms, including YouTube, the training software platform Coursera, the recruiting and learning platform LinkedIn, and other video sharing platforms such as Bloomberg and Reuters.
The feature currently supports translations from Spanish to English, English to German, Hindi, Italian, and Spanish, and plans to add more languages in future updates.
As for the Edge browser directed at companies and institutions, Microsoft said that it will contain new features to protect data within the company, prevent leaks, and prevent security breaches.
The browser will also introduce a new policy next month to block screenshots from sensitive or protected websites. The Screenshot Prevention Policy is implemented across the Microsoft platform to protect organizations that want to prevent their data from being compromised.
Microsoft will give IT managers in their organizations the ability to update all versions of Edge. This is an important step as the browser receives multiple security updates every week to address exploited vulnerabilities.
Professional administrators can view older Edge versions and take actions, such as forcing a restart, installing updates, enabling automatic updates, enabling or disabling certain features, and applying screenshot protection policies if available.
Microsoft has previously added the ability to integrate YouTube videos into the browser, and this feature is already available for some clips published on the platform.
