Microsoft has launched a new version of its Edge internet browser that adds an important feature that allows users to measure the speed of their Internet connection.
Users can access the Internet speed meter tool by clicking on the tool icon in the sidebar. However, when you click the Start button in the tool, it opens a new tab in the Bing Internet Speed Test search engine instead of running it in the sidebar.
This behavior seems strange since the idea of Edge's built-in tools is to give users quick access to specific tasks without relying on other external tools or sites and without keeping tabs open.
This tool measures Internet speed based on three factors: download speed, upload speed, and network latency. This tool is based on the popular SpeedTest service, which provides users with free services to measure connection speed.
Microsoft should make the tool work directly in the browser's toolbar without having to open a new tab. Because this tool seems less useful than others in its current state.
The company offers a number of tools built into the Edge browser, including a calculator, world clock, currency and unit converter, translator, dictionary, stopwatch, and other tools.
Other changes Microsoft has made to the new browser include fixing two security vulnerabilities and indicating that the company will update the browser automatically without user interaction.
