Online business and recruitment platform LinkedIn has announced a new game aimed at improving interaction between the platform's users.
Speaking about why we wanted to develop and publish games, Lakshman Somasundaram, Director of Product Management at the platform, said in an official statement: “For us, games are about communication. LinkedIn's mission has always been to connect professionals around the world and improve their productivity. “The world of work has changed in the 20 years since the platform was founded, and the way people communicate with each other has changed with it.”
Some users believe that offering entertainment games may conflict with the core activities of the platform, which are focused on professional communications, business and business activities. However, the platform sees this as a new way to better communicate with users.
LinkedIn is initially offering three new games: “Queens,” which is based on solving Sudoku-style logic puzzles, “Crosslimb,” which focuses on clues and words, and “Pinpoint,” in which players must try to find the smallest number. Possible connections between words.
The three games are designed to be played once per day, and each game lasts only a few minutes. Players can compare their points with those they're signed in to, and games also display company-level point lists.
The platform offers all three games on the LinkedIn Games website, and can be accessed via the News section on PC or the My Network tab on mobile.
It is worth noting that Microsoft acquired LinkedIn in 2016, and it is currently considered the largest online platform in the business and employment sector with more than one billion users around the world.
