Google and Meta are fighting over an AI deal

Google and Meta are in talks with major Hollywood studios about licensing content for use in the tech giant's artificial intelligence video creation software, according to a new report from Bloomberg.

The two companies are developing technology to create realistic scenes based on text prompts, and have offered tens of millions of dollars to collaborate with the studio.

Rival company OpenAI, which is backed by Microsoft, is in similar talks.

Hollywood studios want to discuss how to use artificial intelligence to cut costs while protecting their productions from theft.

Hollywood studios are interested in making movies and TV shows available to technology companies without controlling how the content is used.

News Corp has agreed to let OpenAI use content from its publications and provide news content to ChatGPT in a five-year deal worth more than $250 million.

Meta also plans to pay publishers for access to news, photo and video content to train AI models.

Warner Bros. said: Discovery is willing to license parts of its modular software, but the license will cover only certain parts and not the entire library.

Although The Walt Disney Company is reluctant to license its content to these companies, it has expressed interest in other forms of collaboration.

Hollywood studios use artificial intelligence in their productions, as do many filmmakers.

A new set of tools promises to help filmmakers quickly, in real-time, create hyper-realistic clips based on just a few descriptive words, including Sora from OpenAI and Veo from Google.

Models' skills have worried Hollywood. Last year, actors and writers went on strike for a month over fears that artificial intelligence would replace their jobs.

To date, no major studio has sued a technology company over AI, although there are concerns that many of these models have been trained on copyrighted material.
