An Apple News Plus subscription leverages Quartiles, a new original spelling game, and an offline mode that automatically delivers personalized breaking news content to subscribers when they're not connected to a wireless or cellular network.
Both features are available to Apple News Plus subscribers on iOS 17.5 or later.
“We are constantly working to improve the experience for Apple News Plus subscribers,” Apple said. “The new Quartiles Daily Word game is a fun addition to our popular crossword puzzle product.”
“Offline mode gives you easy access to hundreds of magazines, newspapers, how-to articles and more included with your Apple News Plus subscription, no matter where you are,” she added.
Quartile challenges players to form words by checking two- or four-letter squares, with users earning points based on the length of the word.
New puzzles will appear every day, and players will also have the opportunity to share quarterly puzzles with other Apple News Plus subscribers.
Quartiles is the latest addition to the puzzle series available to Apple News Plus subscribers.
In iOS 17, Apple is offering daily crosswords and mini crosswords to Apple News Plus subscribers in the US and Canada.
Apple News Plus subscribers can also access the new Puzzles dashboard to view stats and winning streaks for each puzzle, including solution rate and longest winning streak.
Apple News Plus subscribers can now also enjoy offline mode on iPhone and iPad, downloading headlines, Apple News Today audio summaries, full issues, explainers from Apple News Plus editors, and puzzles for later offline access without a wireless or cellular connection.
