Japanese company Wacom has announced a tablet aimed at creative professionals, digital artists, and design students waiting for Apple's next iPad with an OLED display.
The company has launched the Movink 13, an OLED-based device aimed at creatives who need a portable tablet for drawing.
The device, which retails for $750 at Wacom's online store, features a 13.3-inch Samsung OLED HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, which has several advantages over mid-range tablets with LED displays.
These benefits include no backlight, eliminating light leakage, reducing annoying overheating for tablet users, and allowing smaller tablets to be used.
Wacom claims the Movink 13 is its thinnest and lightest tablet ever, weighing in at 420g and measuring between 4mm and 6.6mm thick.
The company says the Movink 13 is 66% thinner and 55% lighter than the similarly sized Wacom One 13 touchscreen device.
Although the screen size is 12.9 inches, it is about 682 grams lighter than the current iPad Pro.
The Movink 13 uses a USB-C to USB-C cable for power and connectivity. The tablet supports Windows, Mac, Chrome, and Android operating systems, and also offers a second USB-C port for additional power.
Users can also look forward to a wide spectrum of colors and deep blacks with a contrast ratio of 100,000:1.
The device offers 100% DCI-P3 coverage and 95% Adobe RGB coverage, and OLED's fast response time also reduces pen lag to less than a millisecond.
Speaking of pens, the Movink 13 comes with a customized version of the pricier Wacom Pro Pen 3 with a finer, sharper tip.
Wacom says the tablet also supports multiple pen technologies, allowing it to work with the Wacom Pro Pen 2 or third-party pens from Dr. Wacom can be used. Digital grip, Lamy or Staedtler.
There are also two customizable buttons built into either side of the tablet that can be used to activate or deactivate functions such as the touch function.
