Slack rolled out its AI tools for customer selection earlier this year and then to all paying users later.
Since communication is the key to any team's success, inter-organizational communication platforms have become an important part of many team interactions.
To improve this teamwork, Slack has added a series of AI updates, features the company has been touting since last year.
AI features address weaknesses that users typically face on the platform, such as: the burden of large amounts of messages, difficulty finding important items, and following different channels.
AI automatically creates channel summaries to provide users with highlights of things they missed while they were away from their keyboard or smartphone, so they can stay up to date on important business content.
Slack claims that the algorithm that generates these summaries is smart enough to extract content from different topics discussed on the channel.
Topics, which are small conversations between one or more people, serve a similar function.
This tool summarizes all these topics in a short paragraph. Customers can also subscribe to a daily summary of all channels or topics, sent every morning.
Slack also offers another feature, which is conversation search. If necessary, it can be difficult to find the right chat in different Slack channels.
This allows people to ask questions in natural language while algorithms do the actual searching.
The platform extends search and snippet capabilities to include other data sources such as files, clips, and even group messages.
These tools aren't just for English speakers, as Slack's AI capabilities also support Japanese and Spanish.
Slack has announced plans to integrate some popular third-party apps into its AI system in the near future.
To this end, integration with Salesforce's Einstein Copilot is expected in the near future.
