Personal computer sales rise after a long decline

Preliminary data from market research firm IDC shows that PC sales recorded growth in the first quarter of 2024 after two years of continuous decline.

In the first quarter of this year, the growth rate rebounded slightly compared to the previous year and averaged 1.5%. However, growth rates vary from company to company, with Apple's highest growth rate coming from Mac computer sales, which rose 14.6% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to 2023.

Acer came in second place with a growth rate of 9.2%, and Lenovo came in third place with a growth rate of 7.8%.

During the same period, Lenovo ranked first with a market share and revenue of 23%, HP ranked second with 20.1%, and Dell came in third with a 15.5% share.

IDC reported that PC sales returned to growth due to increased shipments in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa with lower inflation, while sales in China, the largest consumer of PCs, continued to decline. As the country is currently going through an economic recession, computers are spread all over the world.

Sales of personal computers have declined over the past two years since the end of the pandemic, but sales of these devices have increased significantly during that period.
