During its participation in the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, Mazda presented two new models, the EZ-6 and the ARATA.
The EZ-6 is an electric sedan, while the ARATA is a crossover scheduled for release in late 2025.
The official name of the EZ-6 is Changan Mazda EZ-6 as it was jointly developed by Chinese automaker Changan, which works with Mazda in China.
The EZ-6 is likely to be based on the Changan Deepal SL03 electric sedan, but with a different design.
The EZ-6, which is considered a replacement for the Mazda 6, is available in electric and hybrid versions and is expected to be launched later this year.
The EZ-6 features a Mazda-style grille, a distinctive look for the Mazda range, as well as frameless doors and hidden door handles with a panoramic roof.
The range of the fully electric version reaches 600 km, while the range of the hybrid version with a full fuel tank and a fully charged battery reaches 1,000 km.
The electric version relies on a rear motor, and the EZ-6 will likely use a 160 or 190 kilowatt motor.
The interior features a 14.6-inch floating central display, a 10.2-inch instrument display in front of the driver, and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
The interior includes a wireless phone charger, cup holders, a Sony audio system, and zero-gravity seats for the front passengers.
Passengers can only control the functions via screen or voice commands. The cockpit relies on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset to power the entire infotainment system.
Mazda says the car is packed with technology, including smart parking technology that can be activated via voice commands even when parked outside the car.
“The EZ-6 electric vehicle combines Mazda’s strengths with Changan’s electric technology,” said Mazda President Masahiro Moro.
He added: "Mazda will continue to work with Changan in China to provide unique products that meet the needs of Chinese customers who prefer advanced vehicles."
