According to the customer support page on its official website, Apple has warned iPhone owners against leaving the device charging overnight.
The company warned customers not to continue charging their iPhones while sleeping and strongly warned against placing the phone under a pillow or blanket while charging as this may cause the phone to overheat and possibly cause a fire.
Apple adds that the phone should be placed in a well-ventilated area while charging.
There have been fires caused by charging phones under pillows while sleeping before, and these incidents were not limited to iPhones only, but affected all mobile phones.
In this context, Apple also warns against using chargers of unknown origin to charge its devices.
The company recently stopped providing iPhone chargers, so many users resorted to chargers from unknown sources or brands to save money.
Apple advises customers not to purchase charging accessories unless they are marked “MFI” (short for “Made For iPhone”) on the packaging.
If a charger does not comply with applicable safety standards, it is considered unsafe to use and charging with the charger may result in serious harm such as device damage or fire.
Apple also recommends paying attention to signs that might prompt customers to purchase a new charger or charging cable, such as: for example, a charger that has been exposed to excessive moisture or liquid has been spilled inside it, a charger that has been dropped or has a cracked or damaged case, or a charger that has a frayed wire. .
Although these warnings are issued by Apple, they apply to all smartphones, regardless of manufacturer.
