My previous monitor was a classic 1440p VA monitor from LG. I spent about three days deciding on a display and realized I wanted an OLED display with a 240Hz or higher refresh rate at 1440p resolution.
I work from home and play competitive FPS games (Apex, COD, Rainbow 6, Overwatch 2).
I can tell you that I do not regret this purchase! I have good 4080, 7950x and 32GB DDR5 memory but I still get over 200fps in most of the games I play. If I really want to work out, I always have the option of playing in 16:9 or 16:10, with black bars on the sides, but that doesn't really bother me because it's an OLED device.
Now the picture quality on this screen is amazing! Many other reviews say that this monitor should be able to run 4K, but at this point you can't really take advantage of the full potential of 240Hz even with a very powerful GPU.
The screen has a matte finish, but as you can see in the picture, I have the screen in front of a window, but even though my room is bright, the image quality is still bright and there is no display issue. When I look at the scripts, I honestly don't think they're as bad as people make them out to be. You can play it clearly and easily, and if you upgrade from an older or 1080p panel, it's sure to look better, if not as good. Don't let that stop you from getting it.
I would say I have this monitor on sale and I see LG cutting prices often so I would say keep your eyes open but if the price drops below 1100 then pull the trigger and buy this thing! If you want more connectivity (a USB-C display), the Asus PG34WCDM is another option, but you'll pay about $1,400 after taxes. If you are a big football fan, I would tell you to watch this match, it is amazing. However, it's still a very nice device, and the included stand feels sturdier and cable management is easier.
