I'm not a tech guy, but if you have a few hours I can tell you about the time I spent connecting my router to the Internet and then to my computer. Trust me: I have a very low threshold for this kind of pain! About two and a half months ago, my favorite and very expensive router decided to die. I tried everything, but one morning it stopped working. I call it my "favorite router" because it was the first router in four years that worked without problems, and then there it was: a lot of black plastic junk. It was so good that I bought another copy. Now that the AC122 Dbit Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Router is out, I had to try it out. I was surprised. I plugged it in and it seemed to work almost instantly, no cables needed, it was just connected to the internet and the rest of the setup process was easy and I was good to go. The best for only $30? Awesome!
I don't have the experience to analyze signal strength or upload and download speeds and compare them to other routers I own, but from what I've seen they're fine for anything I might need to do, like typing. Amazon reviews and download from my desktop. At the very least, this is a great router to take with me when my expensive router decides it's time to ride off into the sunset. And I have to tell you, it's very refreshing to see an Internet communicator turn white instead of black, which is hard to see without the power of sunlight!
The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the router only has four ports instead of five, which is more common, at least with "older" brands. However, based on my usage, I recommend this router as it offers great value for money for basic connectivity.
