Review Acer SB272 Ewi Full HD IPS Zero-Frame Monitor

Acer SB272 Ewi 27-inch HD (1920 x 1080) Frameless Gaming Desktop Monitor | AMD FreeSync Technology | Ultra slim and thin design | 100 Hz (VRB) | Little blue light |

I'm in the process of renovating my office and setting up my desk and I know I need two 27" 1440p IPS monitors running vertically in portrait orientation on either side of the main 34" monitor. I saw them on sale for $110 so I gave them a try. This is my idea:

Firstly, these are excellent monitors for the price I paid and it would be foolish to return them. Image quality, size, narrow borders, and performance are all excellent. In landscape mode, this would be ideal if you only need 100Hz.

However, for use cases where I want a portrait display, I don't always choose it over other options. The main reason is the mounting location and VESA mounting location.

They have a 75 x 75 VESA slot, so let's clear that up.

However, the two holes in the middle of the screen are curved, allowing the VESA mount to bend into them.

VESA is only 75 not 100.

The VESA mounting position is at the bottom of the screen rather than in the middle. This makes the horizontal mount difficult to hold and rotate. This can cause your stand to rotate/twist so that the screen is tilted instead of vertical. VIVO's steel arms can't handle that kind of rotational force.

The bottom few inches are very thick. So, if you put this screen in portrait orientation and want the thin bezel to be as close to the rest of the screen as possible, you'll end up with a big fat ugly boy (it's about 2 inches thick). ). ).

Power and HDMI/DP inputs are also located on the bottom edge. So, if you point them sideways, they will stand out and be clearly visible. To solve this problem, I bent the power cord as much as possible and installed the HDMI adapter at an angle.

Over time, the VESA plate you're using will protrude beyond the screen. If you can't hide it, you will need to cut about 1/4 inch of sheet metal to hide it.

I have now aligned it so that the base/bottom is on the inside instead of the outside and slightly behind the main body. This will hide the cables and bracket. I'm in the process of replacing my VIVO stand with one that can withstand rotational forces.

With all this in mind, I'm keeping these because I was able to do all the work myself and get them at a great price. And - no dead pixels! =D
