NOBKLEN J12 Kids Tablet, 10 Inch, 8GB RAM, 128GB, Android 13, Age 3-12, 8000mAh Battery, Dual Camera, Parental Control
I've been using Android and Fire tablets for a decade and this one really surprised me. Well, I wouldn't use it for marketing purposes, so I don't think it has any advantage other than being cheap.
The quality of workmanship is cheap and the durability is low for a children's table. The included case isn't really shock-resistant and the display appears to be made of low-quality glass that is not scratch-resistant. I can't comment on the software for kids because I haven't used it yet, but setting up kids' profiles and Android is very simple and effective.
More on build quality: As another reviewer noted, half of the back of the device's case came off after I removed the case. Very thin and fragile material. It came back without any problems. The screen is okay, but not great. Viewing angles are a bit poor for a premium IPS display. The sound coming from the speakers is acceptable and the sound quality is better than average but not great. CPU, memory, and storage performance were better than expected. The specs are a bit sparse, so I'm guessing the memory is EMMC. This wears out much faster than other types, but this is not unexpected given the purpose of the device. The battery capacity is 8000 mAh, which is really good for this type of device. It is difficult to estimate battery life without disassembling the device. WiFi and Bluetooth worked as expected.
The software was another surprise and is very basic Android. Bloatware, spyware or malware is rarely or never detected. Unfortunately, as at least another reviewer noted, the security updates are not up to date and there is no mention of support for future OS updates or security patches. Battery management is excellent and consumption is very low when the screen is off. It has been without power for five days, used occasionally, and still has over 50% charge. It outperforms the most expensive Samsung tablets. I haven't tried using another charger, but the one it came with still works fine.
My use is a simple RV GPS navigator without GPS. So the price is hard to beat. GPS works well in this regard, and some apps that don't require RV-specific data also work well.
Other than putting a screen protector on it, I'll be using it as is. As I mentioned earlier, this is a budget tablet with decent but low-quality components. I expect performance to degrade with use and I don't expect the device to last longer than three years. But for the price, the features and performance are very good. Good value for money for the price offered.
