ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2024) Gaming Laptop, 16" FHD 16:10, 165Hz, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4060, Intel Core i7-13650HX, 16GB DDR5, 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD, Wi-Fi Fi 6E ,Windows 11,G614JV-AS74
I wanted to buy another laptop for work, but also for travel and gaming, so I saw this laptop on sale on Black Friday! Great buy! Here are the pros and cons after a week of use:
cheats:
1. The 1920 x 1200 FHD 165Hz display is pretty much an older version of the Legion 5 Pro's 16-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS LCD 165Hz display... but I suspect ASUS cut the budget a bit somewhere for some reason on the parts on offer. I expect. (I didn't want to spend more than $1,500 on the model I chose.)
2. Automatic MUX switching is annoying. It optimizes the option that best suits your current usage at that time (for example, starting a game instead of closing it takes you to the desktop). Automatic switching sounds good, but it messes up your display settings. When you start the game, it boots up again, takes you back to the desktop, and messes up your display/resolution settings again... So, it's better to set it using the "Dedicated GPU" option, so you don't have to worry about which one. ..
3. The standard SSD capacity is very small (again for cost reasons, but now literally everyone is buying additional SSDs)... So a 2TB SK.Hynix P41 SSD chip is sold, which has to be installed manually in order to load large-scale applications And games. There is ; Really easy to install and easy to remove from the back; There's an empty NVMe Gen4 M.2 2280 slot so you can install your own SSD.
After installing correctly, it was working great and now there are no more problems! (Make sure to mount the SSD to Windows after installation and open Disk Management to reformat it (quick format! Never overmount the SSD!) No need to fiddle with BIOS settings...press "Do not over tighten the SSD screws" because the stick is bent This is wrong.
feature:
1. RTX 4060 8GB – Maximum TGP 140W
2. i7-13650HX – Beats the Ryzen-7 5800H on the Legion 5 Pro
3. The RGB light strips look great!
4. 90 Wh battery
1. RGB Keyboards – I've heard mixed reviews about ASUS's design in this area; The Legion 5's RGB keyboard design is certainly the best it's ever been, but in my opinion it's not that bad, it's just not that bad.
2. Almost the same weight and dimensions as my Legion 5 Pro, so portability is the same, but much better than my old MSI gaming laptop from 2017 as you can put it in a backpack and still have room for it. Other accessories etc.
That's all I've noticed so far, but it's still a great mid-range gaming laptop! I can run Cyberpunk on all max settings with no issues or frame rate drops, just like every other AAA game so far... This laptop should last a long time until AAA games become more graphically intense and require more processing power. ...but then again, it's the best thing money can buy and we highly recommend it!
