Dacia launches Spring, its compact and affordable electric car.
The cheapest electric car in Europe comes with many useful new innovations and functions.
The car has achieved great success since its launch in 2022, with more than 140,000 units sold so far.
The design of the updated model is inspired by the powerful Duster produced by Romanian brand Renault, giving it a much-needed twist.
The boxy exterior features plastic cladding and thick wheel arches, giving the impression that it's ready for light off-roading, even if it's not.
Dacia claims that the changes will not lead to a significant rise in prices, as the current model is sold for less than 20 thousand euros in France and Germany, while the new model is expected to cost about 23 thousand euros.
Spring has a clear advantage in the European market, where demand for affordable electric cars is growing.
Although there are competitors such as the Citroën Ami and Fiat 500e, the Spring's price is more than enough for many city commuters.
Base models keep it simple, while higher trims add features like a touchscreen infotainment system and air conditioning. You can also customize the Spring's look with optional 15- or 16-inch wheels.
Dacia has completely redesigned the interior of the dashboard: in addition to a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch touchscreen, the company has also redesigned the climate control system in the interior and the air vents have received a new look.
The updated steering wheel has a new company logo, is now adjustable in height and behind it there is a new gear selector and smartphone holder.
The interior design is simple with unusual colours.
The car's storage space is relatively sufficient: the front trunk holds 35 liters and the rear trunk holds 308 liters, and it can be increased up to 1,000 liters when the rear seats are folded down.
There are numerous storage compartments throughout the cabin, providing an additional 33 liters of storage space.
The car is equipped with a medium-power engine that produces between 45 and 65 horsepower (depending on the version) and can accelerate to 100 km/h in less than 14 seconds.
It is also equipped with a relatively small 26.8 kWh battery and has a maximum range of 220 km and can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in 45 minutes via a 30 kW DC charger.
According to Dacia, Spring owners travel 37 kilometers per day, with about 90 percent of these trips being less than 70 kilometres.
The Renault-owned brand found that drivers drove the Spring at an average speed of 37km/h, with 75% of owners charging their cars at home.
The spring weighs less than 1000kg, which is rare for modern electric cars, which means it is highly efficient and will help you save more energy costs and reduce your environmental impact.
Its small size is a big advantage in crowded cities and makes parking easier.
The car features a two-way charging option, meaning you can use the Spring as a portable power source for your devices on camping trips, outdoor parties, or even to power essential household appliances in the event of a power outage.
