Google reported that there is a new feature in the new Android 15 system that can extend the battery life of upcoming devices.
Dave Burke, vice president of Android platform engineering, and Smit Samat, head of Android systems, discussed some of the details of Android 15 in a special podcast attached to the technology site Android Authority.
Burke said some of the improvements included in Android 15 will allow devices to enter sleep mode 50% faster than devices running Android 14, providing significant battery life.
Burke highlighted the effectiveness of the new power saving modes in Android 15, noting that some devices tested by Google enjoy an additional battery life of up to three hours before needing to charge.
It's still unclear whether devices like the Google Pixel 8 or Samsung Galaxy S24 will see the same increase in battery life immediately with the rollout of Android 15, but this feature is a positive indicator that the new update will significantly improve power consumption.
It is expected that Android 15 will remain in the beta phase until the beginning of the fourth quarter of this year and will begin to be rolled out to devices with the launch of the upcoming Pixel 9 phones.
In addition to the benefits of artificial intelligence, Google also announced a number of security features in the system, including the “Private Spaces” feature that allows users to save applications that contain sensitive data and block their use unless specific biometrics are verified. Authentication and other features to protect against security threats and fraud.
On the other hand, previous reports claimed that Samsung itself is working to extend battery life by relying on artificial intelligence mechanisms without compromising performance, and that increasing the battery life of its upcoming phone batteries may reach 10%.
