Acer brings AI to Swift devices

Acer launches new laptops equipped with AMD Ryzen 8040 series processors.

When it comes to the dedicated neural processing units on its chips, the company is promoting the Swift Edge 16 and Swift Go 14 devices as AI-powered devices.

The Windows 11 device supports an OLED screen, an AMD Ryzen 780M graphics processor, and 32 GB of RAM.

The AMD Ryzen 8040 series chips feature a proprietary AI engine that AMD says is 1.4 times faster than its predecessor in terms of Llama 2 model performance and AI vision.

Acer claims that the Swift Edge 16 and Swift Go 14 provide neural processing units for AI-related tasks such as removing background noise in PurifiedVoice calls and recordings, blurring the background of images, and correcting eye position in PurifiedView video calls.

There is a dedicated Microsoft Copilot key on the laptop keyboard that can be used to perform quick AI queries, similar to the ChatGPT chatbot.

The AMD chipsets for both devices include Microsoft's secure Pluto processor, which was first released in 2020 through a partnership with AMD and Intel.

The wizard provides security to protect your login credentials, encryption keys, and personal information from hackers.

Acer says the Swift Edge 16 improves performance without sacrificing portability.

All models of the device have a 16-inch OLED display with a resolution of 3200 x 2000 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a response time of less than 0.2 ms.

The AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor is paired with the AMD Radeon 780M integrated GPU.

Acer has equipped the device with 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 2TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD internal storage.

The Swift Go 14 features an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor and an AMD Radeon 780M graphics processor.

Acer has equipped the device with 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD internal storage.

The device features a 14-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1800 x 2880 pixels, a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and a response time of less than 0.2 ms.

Both models have a 1440p webcam and the Swift Go 14 is equipped with a privacy screen.

The company plans to launch the Swift Edge 16 in March at a price starting at $1,300, while the Swift Go 14 will be launched in April at a price starting at $700.
