Italian high-performance car manufacturer Abarth has launched a new all-electric model called the Abarth 600e. The purple version of Scorpionissima will undergo final testing before commercial filming.
The company has released the first images of the Abarth 600e, which promises to be its most powerful car yet.
Abarth has been building race and performance cars for about 75 years. The carmaker was initially interested in sports cars, but since the 1950s it has entered into partnerships with other Italian carmakers, including Fiat.
Since then, Abarth has been fully acquired by Fiat and now operates under the larger Stellantis banner, although Abarth continues to use Fiat components to deliver unique high-performance vehicles bearing the distinctive Stellantis badge.
The Abarth 600e is an electric version that pays homage to the Fiat 600 of the 1950s and 1960s, with high performance and a purple livery in a limited edition "overview".
The manufacturer is presenting the new Abarth 600e to the public for the first time, and its production is scheduled to begin shortly after final tests in Milan.
Production of the Abarth 600e begins with a launch version called the Scorpionissima limited to 1,949 examples.
Abarth said that the design of its new model is unique in the electric car sector and is equipped with a mechanical sliding differential to provide fans of the brand with strong control and stability.
The car is equipped with 20-inch high-performance tires developed in collaboration with Hankook, tire supplier of the Formula E racing series.
The company provided the car with an advanced braking system equipped with large brake discs to better dissipate heat.
The 600e Abarth is expected to have a 54kW lithium-ion battery, which, assuming it uses the same cells as the Fiat, would mean a range of around 400km.
Drivers can benefit from the 240 horsepower of the Scorpionissima version of the electric car.
