Tata announces the budget electric car Punch

Tata has launched an electric car called Punch to tap into the growing electric vehicle market in India.

The Punch is the first car to be based on the company's new electric vehicle architecture called Acti, which is expected to underpin several of the company's electric vehicles including the Curvv, Sierra and Harrier.

Available in five different models with two battery options, the electric vehicle aims to provide variety and choice to potential buyers. Prices range between 13,800 and 18,000 euros.

The basic battery has a capacity of 25 kilowatts and a range of up to 315 kilometres. There is also an optional 35 kWh battery and a range of up to 422 km.

Tata equipped the long-range model of the car with an electric motor with a power of 122 horsepower and 190 Newton meters of torque, which allows the car to accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in about 9.5 seconds.

The standard version is equipped with an electric motor with 82 hp and 114 Nm of torque. Acceleration time from 100 km to 100 km is about 13.5 seconds.

Customers can charge the base vehicle using a 3.3 kW wall charger, and customers can also opt for a 7.2 kW fast charger.

Punch supports AC fast charging and charges the battery from 10% to 80% in just 56 minutes using a 50kW fast charger.

Visually similar to its electric sister car, the Nexon, the Punch features a new design with LED light bars, split headlights and alloy wheels.

The Punch is Tata's first electric car with a front luggage compartment that provides additional storage space.

The Punch electric car offers a unique interior design compared to the combustion engine model, as it features a new dashboard with two 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment system and digital meters.

The driver can use a lever on the steering wheel to control the level of regenerative braking, improving the driving experience.

The Punch features ventilated front seats that distribute air to passengers via built-in fans and ducts, a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitors, wireless phone chargers, a sunroof, and a car cleaner. Cabin air.

In terms of safety, the car was equipped with six airbags, an anti-lock braking system, an electronic stability control system, three-point seat belts, and ISOFIX anchors on all seats.

In the highly competitive Indian EV market, Punch faces rivals such as the MG Comet, which is priced between €9,900 and €12,400, and the Citroën eC3, which is priced between €14,000 and €15,300.
