Samsung Viewfinity S50GC Ultra QHD Monitor 34", 100Hz, 5ms, HDR10, AMD FreeSync, Eye Protection, Frameless Design, PIP, PBP, LS34C50DGANXZA, 2023, Black
The feature I'm really excited about in this template is the image-by-image placement. I have a MacBook for personal use and a Windows laptop for work. They both have USB-C ports.
Important note about USB-C: When purchasing a second cable, search for “Thunderbolt.” Many USB-C cables support the same Power Delivery capacity, but are limited to USB 2.0 speeds, which is insufficient for the huge data rates of HD video. Additionally, if you want to power your monitor, make sure the cable is rated to suit the power needs of your device. Just a thin cable on my laptop, no hub or dock needed, which is "really" nice.
Switching from one device to another is easy, and Mac and Windows recognize changing dimensions and adapt quickly. It is possible to specify which devices can use the built-in speakers.
I don't play many games, but I run my favorite flight simulator and it looks great (although my hardware isn't powerful enough to achieve high frame rates at full resolution). I didn't notice any problems with the old LCD panel.
Physically, this screen suits me perfectly. I want it to sit more or less near the corner of my desk, and its curved design means it sits well and doesn't take up as much space as a tablet. The frame is black and to be honest, I didn't notice it even with the large screen. The lower frame is matte silver/gray and blends harmoniously with the rest of the room.
It comes with a USB-C cable and an HDMI cable (oddly enough, the USB cable is black and the HDMI cable is white - it fits better on the back of the monitor.)
My work sometimes requires me to open multiple windows and connect to network devices via console script. With this screen, I can get at least nine windows, and maybe even a dozen, by adjusting the fonts so they are comfortably readable from about a meter away.
Headphones are fine for watching TV or playing soft background music, but their range is limited. They're better than the best laptop speakers (with the possible exception of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro), but even a pair of average desktop speakers will deliver better sound.
There's a single panel covering all the inputs and outputs, which means that even with two laptops, the back can be sleek and sleek, rather than the typical spaghetti squat you'll find on many monitors. It's a big advantage that others can see the back of the screen.
Overall, this monitor ticks all the boxes for me, it's easy to use and looks absolutely stunning.
