KTC 27 Inch Curved Gaming Monitor, 165Hz 1ms MPRT, 2K 1440P 144Hz Display, 1500R HVA Display, FreeSync Premium, HDR, 120% sRGB, DisplayPort/HDMI/USB, Vesa Support 3.9 x 3.9, Computer Monitor for Gamers
It's been a long time since I've used a standard 16 x 9 monitor. I use a 38-inch ultra-wide Alienware. Initial thoughts about this monitor are that the build quality is actually better than the Alienware and it doesn't have any cheap plastic. It has a very sturdy body and I feel very comfortable hanging it on the wall. I've always used TV wall mounts, and although they are heavier, the Walmart mount I used weighed 100 pounds.
Initial use shows that there are several built-in screen sizes, including 21 x 9, so if I want to return to the ultrawide range in a particular game, I can do so by changing the acceptable screen sizes via the KTC OSD menu.
As for the way I use this screen, I do not see any difference between it and the matte coating. Use it in a dark room without real light. There are LED lights throughout the room, although there is no pure white light, so the room is relatively dark.
I will update my review in a few days once I can use the screen more. I briefly tested Starfield, Callisto Protocol, and Cyberpunk.
The reason I wanted to test this is because the HDR bloom effect is pretty bad on my IPS display, so to test the initial bloom effect. OLED is better for a reason.
Since I have multiple monitors, I mainly use this monitor for gaming, and I'm not too worried about burn-in or lag.
The only thing I looked at was firmware updates and the G48P5S was not listed on the website. I did not contact KTC to ask if there was a firmware update or if the firmware update was the same as the G42P5 firmware update.
According to the datasheet, the G48P5S has an HDMI transfer rate, so I'd be hesitant to test small-screen firmware on this device.
I will update this review once I spend more time with the screen
I contacted ktc on 01/24/14 because the 48 inch monitor is not listed on the support page and they wanted to know about firmware updates since there are firmware updates for the g42p5. Since the g48p5s is a 2023 model, it has HDMI 2.1 (48Gb/s).

I love gaming on this screen. One downside is that the screen doesn't wake properly when it goes into sleep mode. I have to turn it off and on again using the remote. The big flashing red light at the bottom when the screen is off is a bit annoying
