Amazon has launched an artificial intelligence tool that can answer shoppers' questions about products, a company spokesperson confirmed, as the company continues to experiment with generating artificial intelligence.
A new feature in Amazon's mobile app invites users to ask questions about specific items and then returns answers within seconds, essentially by compiling information from product reviews and the listing itself.
The new feature answers the same questions people sometimes ask AI chatbots.
You can ask the AI tool questions about the product using the question field on the product page.
“We continue to innovate to make life easier for our customers and are currently testing a new AI feature to help customers answer common product questions,” Amazon spokeswoman Maria Boschetti said.
This feature can prevent shoppers from scrolling through review pages or reading listings to find information about the product.
Unlike OpenAI's chatbot AI, ChatGPT, Amazon's new feature can respond to creative prompts but can't lead conversations.
Amazon designed the tool so that questions are not taken out of context and an error message is displayed if the question cannot be answered.
Amazon has introduced several AI tools to its website in recent months.
Last June, the company began testing AI-generated product review summaries and deployed its AI capabilities to third-party vendors to help them write ads and create ad visuals.
It also launched Q, an AI chatbot that helps businesses handle everyday tasks, and Bedrock, a generative AI service for Amazon Web Services customers.
Creative AI is transforming every customer experience and the company is using it to predict inventory levels and determine the best routes for drivers, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said.
The company generates artificial intelligence through its enterprise cloud arm AWS.
In November, AWS introduced a feature called Titan Image Generator that allows businesses to create images using text prompts.
It also gives enterprise customers access to other popular AI models such as Llama 2, Claude, and Stable Diffusion.
