WhatsApp launches password features to secure discussions

Instant messaging platform WhatsApp has announced the launch of a “secret code” function that will allow users to further protect locked discussions.

Thanks to this feature, you can hide locked discussions in WhatsApp and they will not appear unless you enter your password in the app's search bar.

Users can create a password in the WhatsApp application by entering the Spiras Discussions folder, then clicking on Settings, choosing passwords, then creating a password.

You can use letters, numbers, symbols, and even emojis when creating your password. It is recommended that you select a different password that will be used to unlock your phone.

Once the password is created, the discussion file will disappear from the discussion list and can be answered by entering the password in the search bar.

WhatsApp had previously launched the Cat Lock feature, which records discussions after the user activates the lock option in a special WhatsApp file that can only be accessed through authentication mechanisms such as the device's face, fingerprint, or password.

WhatsApp said in its official blog that it is now easier to lock discussions by long pressing on each discussion instead of entering the discussion settings, and confirmed that the new feature will be rolled out by HUI today and will be available to all users in August 2019. More updates will follow in the coming months.
