Messaging platform WhatsApp is testing the ability to share high-quality photos and videos as statuses within the app.
As can be seen from the latest beta version of the application, when sharing photos and videos as statuses, there will be a “HD” option to publish them in high quality instead of standard quality, which will have negative consequences on the quality of the application, which will have a negative impact on the published material.
WhatsApp introduced the status feature in 2017, and it is now considered one of the main features of the application as it allows users to share different types of content with their contacts. It is valid for only 24 hours and then disappears automatically.
Meta Company, which owns the platform, is testing a number of other status changes, including the ability to post directly to Instagram and Facebook, and is also working on improving the status display within the app.
The platform recently started allowing sharing of high-quality photos and videos in chats, and a few days ago it also introduced the ability to send photos and videos in the original quality to improve the messaging and content sharing experience.
Meta is said to be making these changes to be able to show ads in the status section soon.
Another feature was discovered in the beta version of the WhatsApp application that allows users to share audio clips during video calls to listen to them together, in addition to sharing audio when the screen sharing feature is enabled.
These new options are still under development and testing and will be made available later by WhatsApp via an app update.
