Samsung has released the phone app for its Windows devices. This app makes it easy to text and make calls by pairing your Galaxy Book laptop with Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
The app provides continuity features for Galaxy smartphones and Galaxy Book laptops similar to integration between Mac computers and iPhones.
The Phone app is now available in the Microsoft Store for desktop and laptop computers running Windows 10 or Windows 11.
The application is limited to Samsung laptops, which include the Galaxy Book 4 series that the company launched a few days ago.
The app description says: “Never miss an important call again. Make and receive calls from your computer using your phone number and the wireless plan on your Galaxy phone.
As you can see from the description, the app allows Galaxy smartphone users to use the same number on their phone on their Galaxy Book laptop.
The Galaxy Book 4 notebook doesn't have an eSIM, so it's not clear how you can use the same number as your smartphone, as logging into the same Samsung account should be enough to make it easier to keep up with calls and messages.
According to the screenshots, the app appears to display a pop-up notification when there is an incoming call on the Galaxy smartphone.
The pop-up window allows users to accept or reject incoming calls and even send a quick message.
The app is limited to Galaxy devices, but not the Galaxy Book 4, as details of the app indicate that Galaxy Book 4 devices and other Intel-based PCs can support the Continuity feature.
The UI design of the phone app is similar to the One UI interface that Samsung uses on its smartphones and tablets.
Users can use the Windows Phone Link app to view call logs and messages from any Android smartphone via a Windows PC.
Android phones can also receive phone calls when paired with a Windows PC via Bluetooth.
