KOORUI 27 Inch WQHD 2560x1440 Gaming Monitor for PC, Up to 240Hz Refresh Rate, 1ms, Adaptive Sync, HDR10, DCI-P3 90%, 144Hz, DisplayPort, HDMI, Tilt, Black -GN05
After unpacking, the fit and finish as well as the magnetic housing/mount appear to be of very high quality.
Without reading the manual (which didn't help anyway), I figured out how to get it running on Windows 11. The process is very intuitive and well integrated.
The HP Specter 13-inch has two USB-C ports. The monitor also has two USB-C ports. The cable between them works with each pair of ports. However, in this case the brightness is limited to 50% for performance reasons. By connecting my laptop charger to the Koorui display and using a USB-C cable to connect to the laptop, there are no longer any power limitations and I get 100% brightness and 100% volume. A surprise for me was the only power cord that also charges the laptop, albeit at a lower power. I can keep the laptop in high performance mode and the battery drains very slowly and it lasts for at least two days.
I have purchased two Koorui, the second one uses HDMI to mini HDMI and runs Windows 10 installed on an 8 year old laptop. This also worked perfectly. However, a second USB-C power supply is required to power the monitor (fully functional) because HDMI does not provide power.
These Koorui displays are more enjoyable to read than any of my laptops (one of which is a high-quality 4K display). It has a matte surface and beautiful transitions from black to white, making images look very natural. I really like the colors and the reading experience.
The only downside I found was the manual. It repeats danger warnings in six languages, but it doesn't tell you how many seconds you need to hold down the power button to turn it on, since the power button doubles as a menu and selection button. The entire screen settings interface can be managed with just three buttons. Once you get the hang of it, it works fine, but there's nothing about it in the "manual". It also does not address compatibility and performance requirements. Why do we work so hard to build a great product while remaining at the amateur level of writing guides? This is something that bothers me.
For gaming, there's only a 60Hz refresh rate, so I haven't tried it in a game yet and don't plan to use it that way. For distance learning and meetings, ultra-portable secondary displays are really great. Overall, given the great price, I'm really glad I purchased this product.
