The HotYeah 16.1 inch Portable Monitor allows you to extend/duplicate an existing monitor (such as a laptop) or give your phone a larger screen. I tried it on Windows and Android. A simple cable is included in delivery. However, if your laptop has a DP output (rather than USB or HDMI output), as many laptops do, you'll need a different cable or adapter. If your phone has a full USB-C output that can send video (but doesn't), you can use the included USB-C to USB-C cable.
Since the monitor doesn't have a battery, it needs to be powered via USB C, which means it needs two cables to work, one for power and one for the source input. If your laptop has an auxiliary USB port for power (or even a USB-A port), this will work just fine.
The screen comes with a separate case that provides good protection and can also be used as a stand. It magnetically attaches to the screen. The magnet isn't very strong and the case slides off, but once installed, it's no problem leaving it alone. It has two holes to change the viewing angle.
It works well with Windows. The only disappointment is that even with the cable plugged in, it starts in "No Signal" mode and quickly switches to "Power Saving" mode if you don't connect the cable right away and set Windows to search for external monitors. Once I'm in sleep mode, I don't know how to take it out without unplugging it and plugging it back in - even the power button off/on doesn't work. Once started, all is well. The no signal error must be set to give more time to receive the signal, or it must remain in this mode without entering a power saving state because it is still connected.
With Android, your capabilities depend largely on your phone's software. The Samsung screen mirror works, but the screen is the same as the phone's screen, so it's not really any bigger. If you have streaming software (and perhaps the necessary cables like Miracast), you may be able to take advantage of full-screen mode. Again, this is more of a software issue.
Screen resolution is excellent. The same is true if you are used to looking at FD displays. If you have a high resolution laptop, the resolution will be lower. The same goes for your phone.
I find it very useful to give my 15-inch travel laptop more screen real estate. I have a large external monitor at home, but it's too big for me to carry. It's much better and doesn't take up much space.
