The front legs of this stand are very long. So, if you have a smaller desk that measures about 24 inches front to back, you should be aware that this monitor takes up a lot of space. It is best worn on your arm. It has a high degree of tilt and rotation, but no rotation.
I checked for dead spots or stuck pixels outside the box, but there were none. Great start.
On average, the contrast ratio with local dimming is amazing. Rtings tested it at over 9000:1 and the results were easily achieved. Since it's an IPS screen, this is a better day-and-night difference than any other IPS screen on the market. Are you tired of having a gray IPS screen instead of a black screen? The AOC is black and has a very dark color. Black uniformity is much better than IPS and there are no bright spots in the corners or edges.
It's not the old Va board, it's fast. Response time is very good for the Va. It's a little slower than most IPS gaming monitors, but it's not bad at all. When you play dark games like Dead by Daylight, you don't see black lines like in Cod, Battlefield, and Rocket League. Black lines can be seen on the "Go Slow" signs even though it is a "Go Fast" sign. The Samsung Odyssey g7 is available for half the price. I have a G7 that was returned to me due to quality control issues and the response time of this screen is excellent.
Brightness - Oh my goodness, this thing gets bright in HDR, over 1000 nits. Yes, it only has 336 zones, but they are small, very bright LEDs with minimal corona. I was blinded by a shell in the cod and immediately felt unstable. Seriously, this screen gets super bright and the HDR looks amazing. HDR PC gaming with this monitor is an amazing experience that you can't get with any other monitor under $300
There are no speakers, but whatever the case, the monitor's speakers are generally poor. It has 2 HDMI ports and 1 DisplayPort. It doesn't have a USB 3.0 hub, which is nice, but at $279 you can't really complain about it. Costs have to be cut somewhere, and I'm happy to cut costs here.
Honestly, the worst thing about this monitor is the buttons. You have to place a joystick on it like Gigabyte did, but that doesn't make dialing all the settings any easier.
For $279, you get a contrast ratio of over 9,000:1, over 1,000 nits of brightness, fast response times, and low input lag. These specifications are not available for any screen at this price.
In the past 5 years I have used/tested Dell s2721dgf, s2716dgf, Gigabyte m27q, Gigabyte m28u, Gigabyte m34wq, Dark Matter 34 unit price, Samsung g7. This is by far the best of all the monitors, some of which cost more than $500. Very happy with this purchase, great monitor for PC gaming.
