Meizu has unveiled its flagship Android smartphone Meizu 21 at a special launch event in China.
The device is the successor to the Meizu 20 that was launched in March this year and features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a 200MP main camera, and 80W fast charging.
The phone features a 6.55-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The screen has symmetrical 1.74 mm side and top bezels and has a maximum brightness in auto mode of 1,100 nits.
Meizu stated that the device has obtained SGS Low Blue Light certification and HDR10+ certification, and the device’s frame has ZREAL certification.
Meizu offers the phone in black, purple, green and white, the latter also featuring color-coordinated white screen edges.
The Meizu 21 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
The back retains the circular metal camera design of the Meizu 20, but we now have a triple rear camera setup with a 200MP primary lens with a Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor and a large 1/1.4-inch sensor and f/1.69 aperture. . And optical image stabilization function.
The second ultra-wide lens has a resolution of 13 megapixels, while the third portrait lens has a resolution of 5 megapixels, and the front camera has a resolution of 32 megapixels.
There's also an Aicy interactive smart ring lighting system on the back that can display preset colors or patterns for notifications.
The Meizu 21 also has an IP54 rating and a 4,800mAh battery with 80W fast charging support, which the company says can charge the device to 100% in just 40 minutes.
The phone features FlymeOS 10.5 UI based on Android 13 for the first time and supports Flyme Auto, an in-car entertainment system compatible with the Geely Lynk & Co 08 electric SUV, which is the first vehicle to support Flyme.
Speaking of electric cars, Meizu has announced plans to launch the Meizu DreamCar MX in the first quarter of 2024.
The Meizu 21 in China starts at CNY 3,399 (US$480) for the 8GB/256GB version and goes up to CNY 3,999 (US$565) for the 12GB/512GB version. Meizu has also confirmed that it will be offering a 36-month extended warranty on all Meizu 21 phones.
