This is a complete smartwatch, especially at such an affordable price. It does almost what the expensive smartwatch my husband wears does. With the Da Fit app, you can easily change settings, download different watch face designs, and view health information from the watch. Functions such as heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen monitoring can only be activated or measured on demand (power saving option).
Other applications have mixed benefits. The built-in calculator app is great, but pressing the right buttons on the watch screen can be more difficult than using the calculator app on your phone. The timer app seems like a useful feature, but it only vibrates when the time is up without making a sound, so you might miss it. Relaxation apps are similar to phone apps and use animations to show you when to inhale and exhale, as well as stress relief or sleep patterns. Camera Shutter doesn't work with your phone's default camera. Instead, it uses the Da Fit app's camera and offers a 3-second countdown after pressing the watch's shutter button. Whatever the reason, the watch also has some mini-games that can come in handy when you're bored and don't have your phone with you. (The watch has many other built-in apps that I haven't listed here.)
The calling feature works really well. I can make calls from the watch using my phone's Bluetooth connection. This is really useful because when I'm doing chores or need to be hands-free, I can set up my phone with the watch and continue talking. Call quality was good, but I had to turn the volume up to maximum to hear the caller.
Compared to my husband's smartwatch, the notification vibrations are barely noticeable, even on the "strong" setting, which is actually just as intense as the "gentle" setting but lasts a little longer. It's fine when sitting, but the vibrations are barely noticeable when moving.
I wish I had more control over whether or not I received notifications from different phone apps. You can choose to view a list of apps for notifications (see image), but I had to select "Other" (i.e. all other apps on the phone) to receive notifications from Google Cat. So I can no longer receive notifications for everything. My Phone app receives all notifications. It vibrates with every update. Some notifications may cause the watch to vibrate continuously. For example, when I download a Kindle eBook using the mobile app, a notification displays the download progress.
Finally, it's worth noting that once I lowered the screen brightness, battery usage dropped significantly. The lowest setting is still suitable for indoor use, but it must be turned back on for outdoor use.
Overall, this is a very good value for money fitness watch, especially if your main concern is monitoring your health and counting steps. Other apps are an added bonus.
