Google has introduced a new search experience called annotations, allowing users to add notes to search entries across the web and read content written by other users searching for the same topic.
Comments allow users to post their knowledge directly in Google search results. This improves knowledge of the best answers available for those trying to gather information from the Internet.
“We designed the Notes app to help people access the rich, important information available. We are committed to providing site owners with a way to recognize comments,” the company said.
Buttons to add and view annotations appear in search results and in articles found through Discover in the Google app, and users can add colored lines and images when creating annotations.
Comments appear within minutes of being posted unless they are flagged for human review.
The company displays all relevant annotations in a dynamic order based on factors such as the user's query and the relevance of the annotation to the page content.
Google is adding algorithm protection and human review to verify reviews and prevent people from posting reviews that are harmful or contain misleading information. Users can also flag notes for human review.
Google notes that notes can be indexed on the open web and that anyone can email you a link to the note directly.
The company also announced a feature that allows users to subscribe to track the search results they need most. The company allows you to track search queries so you can see the aggregated results of those searches in search results and on Google Discover.
You can also receive notifications about things that interest you. With the new “Follow” button, users can now subscribe to updates on favorite topics.
Users may not submit requests that are explicit, offensive or harmful. The company said it has no plans to share user tracking data with advertisers or third parties.
Google also announced updates to its Views feature, which displays content from places like social networks and forums to help you find real human information online.
The results view shows more information about individual creators, such as the creator's account photo or number of followers.
