Bytedance expands Feishu with AI assistants

ByteDance has launched the updated version of its online collaboration tool Feishu, now infused with artificial intelligence to help customers automate the workplace, as Chinese tech giants continue to push for more industrial use of generative AI.

As Chinese tech giants continue to promote applications of generative AI in industry, ByteDance has launched an updated version of its online collaboration tool Feishu, which now integrates AI to help customers automate their workplaces.

Feishu 7 helps businesses prepare for AI by integrating ChatGPT-like features based on different key language models.

“AI is changing the way we work and driving the growth of our organizations. It is important for entrepreneurs to ensure that their businesses are able to adapt quickly and prepare for the rapidly evolving era of artificial intelligence,” the company said.

In the new version of office tools, ByteDance introduced a chatbot in the form of an artificial intelligence assistant called “Feishu Smart Partner.”

The company explains that in addition to analyzing the content of PDF documents, video and audio files, the virtual assistant can also help summarize meetings and unread messages.

It can also be used to write many types of business documents, including emails, spreadsheets, mind maps, and survey forms.

Customers can ask Feishu Smart Partner to create a table for the inventory management system, which can then be edited by asking to add and modify new fields.

Customers can choose to use Feishu Intelligent Partner's macro language model, which currently supports Tencent-backed Unicorn MiniMax models and government-backed Zhipu AI models.

A group of Chinese companies, including electronics maker Anke Innovation Technology, are using Feishu Smart Partners to improve efficiency in areas such as sales and marketing.

Office software technology giants are looking at intelligent assistants as a potential way to increase the use of the technology, with Microsoft adding an AI assistant chatbot to its product line and aggressively promoting AI in Asia.

Tencent and Alibaba Group have added AI systems to office tools, with Tencent introducing its "Hunyuan" model in products such as Tencent Documents and WeChat Search, while Alibaba introduced its "Unified Qianwen" model. Several products, including DingTalk, a competitor to Feishu.
