X wants to integrate shopping into live streaming

Elon Musk is touting the future opportunities of X and its mission to become the preferred and useful platform for consumers everywhere, although the details of Musk's vision for the similar application remain somewhat vague, and it is unclear how attractive it will be to users.

CEO Linda Yaccarino is meeting with bankers this week to discuss X's growth strategy and convince them of the company's profitability plans.

Yaccarino had previously said the company could become profitable early next year, even if the number of advertisers remains below pre-Elon Musk levels.

The company needs to convince its business partners that it can deliver on the app's ambitious growth plans, as real-time trading, payments, and transactions are important parts of that plan.

X is taking action in this direction and is applying for a payments license in the US to take purchasing to the next level, and that could start with direct mail transactions.

X managers are considering ways to use cross-platform direct messaging to offer one-click payment to its users, and employees have been meeting with e-commerce software companies to learn about possible software tools to offer such a product.

This means linking the payment option to an X account for more people, which could make it easier to get them to spend in-stream, in line with X's efforts around subscriptions, which provide additional revenue and make it easier to distinguish between real human accounts and bots.

Elon plans to expand this by offering end-to-end banking tools (including financial services, loans, etc.) within the X platform, where the starting point will be shopping and optimizing in-app purchases.

X currently does not offer any type of live shopping element, although this is clearly coming, as all the basic elements are being brought together to facilitate live interaction in a way that allows users to purchase products directly in the app.

The X team is looking to change perceptions about the app, and get users to spend and send money as a step towards the major transformation.
