Oemgenuine Lenovo ThinkBook 15, 15.6" 4th Gen IPS FHD Display, Intel 10-Core i7-1255U, 40GB RAM, 1TB PCIe SSD, Fingerprint, W11P Business Laptop
This is my second purchase from the seller Oemgenuine and so far I have to say I am not disappointed. They were shipped here to Nairobi, Kenya, although current pandemic issues are affecting shipments everywhere.
Compared to the T580, the T480 is quite compact and more durable, not to mention smaller. The T580 has a full keyboard with a numeric keypad, but unfortunately the end of the keyboard is narrower and tends to open up a bit (not a big deal, but just a design flaw). On the T480, it is located in the area where the fingerprint reader is located and is a little wider, so opening the lid is not a problem.
I like the matte black rubber feel of the top and bottom covers, but they tend to attract fingerprints, especially on oily or sweaty hands. The typing feel on the keyboard is excellent. It has real ThinkShutter for blocking webcams (no more tape!). There is a switch (on F4) that turns off the microphone (which also turns off the headset microphone when plugged in!).
I know the T480's tires are larger and less attractive, but they suit my needs.
When traveling, I get 5 to 7 hours of battery life with the hot-swappable 24Wh battery and the internal battery (also 24Wh). This is one of the main reasons I bought this laptop, the removable battery. The charger has a 65W Type-C port and works well, but you need to purchase a US-UK adapter as that's what we're using here.
I needed to upgrade the storage (from 256GB to 1TB) and memory (from 8GB to 32GB) to make it easier to use some of the virtual machines I needed due to the nature of my work. Once available, I would consider upgrading to a 72Wh or 48Wh battery for longer use.
