NRadio 4G LTE Modem Router with SIM Card Slot, N300 Unlocked Pocket Mobile WiFi Hotspot for Camping, Travel and Vacation. Connect up to 16 devices and the wireless network is with you; CCC
This LTE router is a smaller, slightly cheaper and more portable version of the larger C8-450 from the same company (NRadio), but it only has N300/2.4GHz Wi-Fi and a single-port Ethernet port, while the larger AC1200 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi and four Ethernet ports.
I originally bought the larger router and used it as portable WiFi in my car, but when this router came out I realized it would fit my needs better - maybe not. It's only a quarter of the size and requires USB power, so it can be powered directly from the car without the need for a 12V converter, inverter or transformer. I have used it in my car for 2 months without any problems and I am very happy with it.
I tested it with SIM cards from three carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon) and found speeds to be comparable to other LTE routers, around 80Mbps. In order for the router to work with my AT&T SIM (mobile broadband plan), I need to manually set the APN for broadband. T-Mobile automatically chooses the correct APN (fast.t-mobile.com), which is the same as Verizon (VZWINTERNET). The router's default gateway IP address is the same as the IP address of other NRRadio devices, which is 192.168.66.1.
I've noticed that after setting up the PIN on my AT&T SIM card, NRRadio can't seem to enter the SIM PIN if your SIM card is locked. I had to insert the SIM card into the phone, remove the PIN, then insert the SIM card again into the NRadio to connect. This is probably not something most people need to worry about.
If I had to change one thing about this product, it would be the top cover that folds down to reveal the SIM card slot and Ethernet port. When closed it does not stay in place. An Ethernet cable holds it in place when it's on, but I wanted to keep extra SIM cards in the tray when it's off, so I don't have to worry about opening it and closing the SIM card. .
