Reliable WiFi with multiple connections
Before WiFi 7, transmission was limited to a single frequency band, such as 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Multi Link Operation* (MLO) allows devices to communicate across multiple bands simultaneously, enabling faster speeds by pooling bandwidth and providing a more reliable Wi-Fi connection across multiple bands used simultaneously. Connecting to multiple domains in this way also enables transparent switching, a process that automatically distributes data to the most appropriate domain to reduce latency.
*Synchronous MLO refers to STR (simultaneous transmission and reception) mode. The MLO switch indicates eMLSR (Enhanced Multiple Link Radio) mode. Multi-link operation (MLO) firmware support on ASUS RT-BE96U is under development (as of September 2023) and will be released in late 2023 or early 2024.
