Overall, this device is very solid for its price. You won't find a better combination of processor speed, memory, and screen resolution at this price. I've used a Lenovo Tab M8 FHD before...it was extremely slow and the performance dropped noticeably over time.
The 8GB RAM is at least double that of other 8-9 inch Android tablets. The performance of Helio G99 is 1.5 times higher than any other Android tablet in 8-9 inch format (e.g. up to 325K). The AnTuTu v9 is compared to the Lenovo Tab 9 (the latter is powered by a 208K Helio G80). The screen is very clear, sharp and bright.
There are some (minor) compromises.
*As another reviewer mentioned, the screen's aspect ratio is a bit unorthodox. The declared resolution of the tablet is 1920 x 1200 (1.6x). However, one of my apps that displays system specifications displays them at a resolution of 1866 x 1200 (1.55 x). I think 1.55x is about right for the latter. When I tried to use 1.6x images as background images, they looked a little different. It's not serious. Most decent wallpaper apps will make the appropriate adjustments.
* It runs Android 13, which has been greatly improved. On the other hand, this means you won't encounter the bloatware that many major manufacturers (Samsung, Lenovo) typically load on their tablets. The downside to Ledger is that many features and/or customizations are not available to you. For example, I'm having trouble setting the font size correctly so that the icon descriptions in the icon set are displayed correctly/accurately.
*The camera does not contain a flash.
Overall, in my opinion, the huge difference in performance compared to other 8-9 inch Android tablets far outweighs the minor issues. In the $150-$180 range (depending on coupons/discounts you get), it looks more like a $400 tablet.
Full disclosure...I haven't used it as a phone so I can't comment on the SIM card and/or mobile connectivity.
