Report: iPhone 15 component costs have reached a record level

The Japanese newspaper Nikkei Asia reported that the cost of components for the new iPhone 15 has increased compared to the previous version.

The newspaper said in a new report that it worked with the technical solutions company Formalhaut to conduct a disassembly of the basic model iPhone 15 Pro Max to determine the basic components used and estimate the price.

The newspaper showed in the report that the cost of the components of the iPhone 15 Pro Max version with a storage capacity of 256 GB reached $558, which is 12% more than the cost of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The price of the Apple A17 Pro processor is about 130 US dollars, the price of the screen is about 115 US dollars, and the price of the titanium frame is about 50 US dollars. All of these prices increased to varying degrees compared to last year.

It is worth noting that the cost of spare parts for similar versions from 2018 to 2021 ranges between $400 and $450, which means that Apple is currently facing higher component prices than in previous years.

It should be noted that these costs mainly focus on the hardware components of the iPhone and do not take into account other items such as research and development, marketing, shipping and other operational and logistical costs.

On the other hand, the price of internal storage has decreased worldwide due to lower demand, allowing Apple to double the basic storage capacity at the same price that Apple offered with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. From $1200.

The newspaper expects that component prices will continue to rise, which may lead to higher prices for iPhone 16 phones next year.
