Motorola offers a convertible phone that adapts to the wrist

Motorola, a subsidiary of Lenovo in 2014, presented some strange concepts at Lenovo Tech World '23. The smartphone maker showed off a prototype of an adaptive display that can be integrated into a phone, stand or smart bracelet. The screen appears to be an evolution of the prototype that Lenovo presented in 2016.

The company highlighted several AI-based development features for Lenovo devices.

The adaptive display resembles a foldable smartphone with a pOLED display with a resolution of 2220 x 1080 pixels. “The prototype can be folded and transformed into different shapes depending on the user’s needs,” the company wrote in a blog post.

The device can be fully opened to use as a traditional smartphone or partially folded to place on a table like a flip phone. It also partially wraps around your wrist, turning it into a kind of smart bracelet.

The prototype features a 6.9-inch display and offers a full Android experience like any smartphone. In portrait mode, the device turns into a small phone with a 4.6-inch screen.

It's often difficult to turn futuristic concepts into consumer products, although Lenovo has proven time and time again that it's not afraid to turn experimental concepts into consumer products.

Motorola has also introduced several AI concepts, using generative AI to provide users with better context.

“This concept allows users to upload or take photos of their clothing to create multiple unique AI-generated images that reflect their style,” the company writes. You can then combine these AI-generated images into special wallpapers for your device using conversion. .

A video posted by the company shows someone taking a selfie wearing a costume, which the software then turns into different background options for the curved phone.

The company also announced that it is developing a personal voice and text assistant for computers and smartphones called MotoAI, based on extensive language models, that can answer questions, write messages, schedule tasks, and more.

MotoAI focuses on data protection, data processing, and task execution locally rather than in the cloud. This assistant can customize your device in unique ways and becomes useful over time as it learns more about you.

Motorola is also addressing document scanning, touting a feature that reduces wrinkles and ghosting when scanning photos or documents using the phone's camera.

“This innovation is designed to improve image quality by reducing wrinkles and shadows to ensure that the document or photo is as clear and sharp as possible,” the company wrote.
