Lexar has announced a 512GB memory card for Huawei smartphones.
This new memory card belongs to the NM level, a storage format standard developed by Huawei specifically for its devices. It is about a third smaller than a traditional microSD external memory card, is similar to a Nano SIM, and can be used using the same port.
Developing small, high-capacity external storage requires overcoming many technical difficulties and challenges, including storage density, manufacturing difficulty, durability, and cost as companies use more advanced manufacturing techniques.
When manufacturing NM memory cards, their thickness is taken into account. It should not be too thick, otherwise it will be difficult to insert it into the SIM card slot; It shouldn't be too thin either, otherwise it will break easily.
The company said that the successful development of the new memory card is due to its research and development team, and that it was also tested by its quality department and Huawei and obtained the necessary licenses before its launch.
Lexar memory cards support the eMMC 5.1 protocol with read speeds of up to 90MB/s and write speeds of up to 85MB/s, which is roughly the same speed as the device's built-in memory. Also suitable for recording 4K videos.
It is worth noting that these new souvenirs are available for Huawei Mate, P and Enjoy series phones, in addition to some tablets and other products.
Lexar hasn't released the new 512GB card yet, but given the prices of similar 128GB and 256GB cards, the price is expected to exceed $100.
