Google announced that its Generative Search Experience (SGE) now lets you generate images directly from text input. Previously, Microsoft demonstrated the ability to create images in Bing Chat using OpenAI's DALL-E model in March, so it's no surprise that Google is following suit. Do the same.
Google now also allows users to write drafts within the SGE experience, customize the output to be long or short, or change the writing style to serious or casual.
These new features are part of a series of rapid updates to the search experience built by SGE as advances in AI technology continue to accelerate.
In recent months, the search experience built by SGE has gained new functionality for tasks such as writing AI-driven summaries, creating definitions for unknown terms and symbols, and the ability to conduct travel and product research.
The new AI image creation feature allows you to enter a prompt to select the type of image you want, such as: B- Drawing, Photo, or Art Painting.
The search experience created by SGE generates four results that can be downloaded as PNG files, or the generated image prompts can be edited to create a new collection.
The new feature is powered by Google's text-to-image template called Imagen, and the same functionality is also available when using Google Image Search.
If you can't find the image you want when you scroll through image search results, you can create a new image using the prompts in the box that appears in the results.
Google is limiting its new image creation feature to users aged 18 and over amid concerns that artificial intelligence image generation has led to inappropriate content.
The company has added fairly strict filtering policies to the product to prevent the creation of images that may be malicious, misleading, or violate guidelines regarding the use of artificial intelligence.
Google also prohibits the creation of images containing real faces and mentioning names of celebrities. This ban aims to prevent the spread of false information.
