Keys are a new, easy and secure way to sign in to apps and websites, providing a secure and convenient alternative to passwords without having to remember or type complex passwords.
The keys use a secure, cross-device authentication method, like Windows Hello on your PC or Face ID on your iPhone, and once you set up the key, you'll never have to enter your password again, no matter how you access Amazon services. .
Compared to traditional two-factor authentication methods, Master Key is easier to use because it can all be done on one device. So, if you sign in using a computer, you don't have to accept the prompt that appears on your phone when you sign in. All that is required for operation is the computer itself.
You can use keys and two-factor authentication at the same time, so you can continue to use traditional two-factor authentication methods in the future if necessary.
Unlike passwords, master keys cannot be entered or guessed, preventing master keys from being accidentally given to the wrong people. When a customer uses the key through their device, they prove that they own the device and can unlock it.
Passkeys are less vulnerable to phishing attacks than passwords and one-time codes found in text messages, making them a safer option for users.
