Apple has released iOS 17.0.3 to fix iPhone 15 temperature issues

Apple released iOS 17.0.3 software update for iPhones a week after iOS 17.0.2 was released to address overheating issues.

Users can download the iOS 17.0.3 software update on eligible iPhones by going to the Settings app, selecting General, then selecting the Software Update option.

iOS 17.0.3 software update with build number 21A360 fixes overheating issue on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Soon after the launch of the new iPhone 15 series, customers started complaining about the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max overheating as the devices sometimes stopped working due to temperature issues.

At the end of September, Apple confirmed the bug and announced that it would fix the problem by issuing a software update for iOS 17.

The company blamed external applications for increasing the load on the A17 Pro processor, as some external applications put great pressure on the chip, leading to thermal problems. Apps that affect performance include Instagram, Uber, etc.

In addition to releasing updates to fix iOS 17 issues, Apple is also working with app developers to improve problematic apps.

USB-C chargers can also generate heat. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the overheating was likely due to changes in the cooling system design, and said Apple could only solve the problem by reducing the processor power.

Apple, in turn, said that it has no plans to modify the A17 Pro chip and that the iPhone 15 Pro's titanium and aluminum design provides better heat dissipation compared to the stainless steel frame of previous models.

“For customers experiencing temperature issues, a software update will resolve the issue,” the company said, adding that the titanium frame of the iPhone 15 Pro is not the cause of the issue.

Along with the release of the iOS 17.0.3 update, the company has also rolled out the iPadOS 17.0.3 software update for iPad users. iOS 17.0.3 and iPadOS 17.0.3 updates address a vulnerability in the kernel that could allow an attacker to gain elevated privileges, as the company claims to have discovered the vulnerability. The vulnerability exists in iOS versions before iOS 16.6.
