Adobe launches AI photo editor Project Stardust

Adobe officially unveiled Project Stardust, its AI photo editor, at the MAX conference as a preview of what the next generation of AI-powered photo editing engines might look like.

This comes after the latest version of the AI-powered photo editor was leaked earlier this month.

Project Stardust is based on Firefly Model 2 and allows users to easily remove objects and people in the scene, change the background, and more.

The main idea of Project Stardust is to enable everyone to use Adobe's AI tools for photo editing and creativity.

Project Stardust is currently a preview of some technologies being developed by Adobe that may become final products.

Since Project Stardust includes a number of Firefly-based AI tools, we may see further developments in the near future as it combines Adobe's object detection model with AI-based features like generative bagging.

Project Stardust is similar in many ways to what Google is trying to do with Magic Editor for Android, as both tools aim to make the previously tedious process of photo editing easier.

Users can upload their own photos or have Firefly create one and automatically analyze it in the background to create layers for the different objects it finds.

The innovative photo editor can automatically recognize individual objects in photos, allowing users to edit objects easily.

To move objects, simply drag and drop them and the AI tool will fill the space. As in Photoshop, adding new objects to your scene is easy because the service provides four different options for each prompt.

New tools make it possible to isolate, manipulate, reposition or completely remove objects from images using artificial intelligence.

This process is usually achieved through sophisticated use of the Lasso tool in Photoshop, but Project Stardust makes it transparent, as if the objects were stored on a separate layer.

The image editor has features similar to the pop-up taskbar introduced in Photoshop earlier this year, which helps anticipate the next steps in the design process.

Adobe explains that there are more than a dozen different AI models that support Project Stardust's various features. With Project Stardust, Adobe aims to maintain its leading position in the technology industry, especially in the development of advanced editing tools.
